Vinoklet Winery – A Favorite Cincinnati Destination
Many may be surprised to know that in the mid-1800s, Ohio was America’s “wine country” and the nation’s largest producer of wine. With a soil and climate conducive to excellent wine making, Ohio still ranks among the nation’s top 10 states in wine production. As winner in multiple, highly competitive state and regional competitions, Cincinnati’s very own Vinoklet Winery in Colerain Township, ranks among Ohio’s top wine producers and is the only working winery in Hamilton County.
“We are very proud to represent Cincinnati at the competitions” says Kreso Mikulic, Owner and Founder of Vinoklet Winery. Speaking to Kreso reveals the genuine heart and soul necessary to craft such top quality wines, and also reminds us how each wine is a unique product of its specific climate, soil, and skill of its Wine Master. “When you drink Vinoklet wine, you really experience something from Ohio.” added Kreso.
Experiencing the distinct taste of an award winning Ohio River Valley wine is not the only local experience guests will have at Vinoklet Winery. On the first weekend after Labor Day each September, the winery organizes an annual Art and Wine Festival featuring local musicians and regional artists. The two-day fun filled festival offers something for all ages, from musical performances throughout the day, to the annual Grape Stomping Contest. There are also numerous other events throughout the year, including farmer’s markets, craft shows and live performances by top local bands and theatrical artists, including the Cincinnati Shakespeare Company.
“This is a place we want people to relax and enjoy” says Kreso. When you visit the winery, you will notice the very cozy, intimate setting. The huge, rustic, stone fireplace gives the main dining area an incredible warmth and glow, and if you come close to sunset or twilight, make sure you book a table next to a window to experience the gorgeous sunset over the winery. The “Grill to Perfection” dinners on Fridays and Saturdays allow guests to grill their own entrees to their liking, while other menu options are available throughout the weekdays. Weddings and Rehearsal Dinners are particular popular, especially since views of the winery provide some of the most unique and stunning backgrounds for Wedding Day photos. Special events such as birthdays, anniversaries and parties are also in demand, as are corporate events, and off-site meetings or corporate training sessions. The staff is very flexible and aims to meet the needs of the occasion. “We have a lot of repeat customers and they become like family” Kreso explains his commitment towards making guests feel completely comfortable and at home at the winery.
The winery has expanded its activities over the past few years and was awarded First Place Winner by Cincinnati Magazine in the “Best of the West” 2017 competition. The winery continues to add new events to its calendar and future activities include a “Murder Mystery Dinner” and “Girl’s Night Out”. Be sure to check out their website for more details.
